They have been sought out by some of the best kayak designers in the world to bring their designs to life. Such respected names as the legendary British designer Derek Hutchinson, Barry Buchanan, a well-known New England designer, and Olympic Champion Greg Barton, have all worked with the Current Designs design team. As a result, Current Designs has become one of the most diverse and sought after line of touring kayaks.
Current Designs and Wenonah Canoe cooperated closely for many years, and a result of that on-going relationship Wenonah Canoe acquired the Current Designs company in 1999. Since the purchase, CD boats have continued to move forward in terms of innovation and laminate quality. They've also offerend new products, updated outfitting, better seats, etc. Some of our best selling kayaks are from Current Designs.
